Welcome to Full Moon Integrative Veterinary Care, where the goal is to maintain your pet’s wellbeing using an integrative health care approach. Many pet owners are seeking alternatives to a primarily pharmaceutical/drug based treatment plan or possibly surgery. My goal is to provide these patients with more natural, less invasive treatment modalities, with fewer adverse side effects, to manage pain, assist in healing and maintain wellness.

About

Hello, I am Dr. Joey Sneva. I graduated from Colorado State University’s Veterinary School in 2002. For 16 years following graduation, I worked as a small animal primary care vet in the Fort Collins, CO area. In June of 2017 I became certified in veterinary medical acupuncture (cVMA) with the goal of being able to provide a more natural approach to help pets with a variety of health issues. After seeing the amazing response to acupuncture and other integrative therapies in my patients, I decided to transition my practice to focus completely on animal rehabilitation and acupuncture. I completed my certification in canine rehabilitation (CCRT) in March of 2020.

I am proud to have been both an instructor for the Curacore Integrative Medicine & Education Center’s Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians course and the acupuncturist for VCA Veterinary Specialists of Northern Colorado from 2018 until 2022. In 2022 I had become so busy in my mobile practice that I decided to focus all my attention on treating my mobile patients.

I treat animals of all kinds including dogs, cats, horses, farm animals and exotics. I truly enjoy working with animals to bring them to their most functional and comfortable condition possible.

I have really seen the benefits of the home visits to observe and examine pets in their home environment. Most importantly, the pets are more comfortable at home, but it also gives me a better understanding of their daily activities, needs and the owner’s goals for the pet. This helps me to design the most effective treatment plan possible for the pet. I also enjoy taking more time at the home visits to get to know the people who love these animals!

Services

Veterinary Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves inserting thin, sterile needles into precise anatomical points that stimulate physiologic healing processes. These include increased blood flow to local and distant sites, relaxation of muscles, release of endorphins and other neurotransmitters (the body’s own natural pain killers and healing agents), and neuromodulation (returning over active nerves or nerves that aren’t functioning properly to their normal, healthy state).

Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture is a form of acupuncture where a small electrical current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. It is used to augment acupuncture and is particularly useful for managing pain and treating neurologic conditions such as intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).

Veterinary Rehabilitation

Similar to physical therapy for humans, rehabilitation therapy is an individualized treatment plan for your pet to reduce pain, stimulate healing and improve function when they are sick, injured, recovering, or aging. Treatments include acupuncture, laser, massage, cold/heat therapy, joint mobilizations, manual therapies and therapeutic exercises for strengthening and conditioning.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a painless treatment that uses clinically tested, specific wavelengths of light to stimulate natural cellular processes leading to faster healing and pain relief. Thousands of medical studies have shown it’s wide range of beneficial effects including wound healing, decreased inflammation, nerve regeneration and pain relief.

Therapeutic Massage

Massage has numerous health benefits and can improve quality of life. Several techniques are used to treat the soft tissues of the body. Health benefits include relaxation of muscles, release of myofascial restrictions, reduced pain, reduced stress, improved mobility, improved/faster recovery from injury and surgery, improved circulation and decreased joint pain.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy

PEMF uses electromagnetic fields to jumpstart and accelerate normal biologic cellular reactions. Numerous scientific studies have proven it’s benefits including decreasing pain and inflammation. Please click on this link to learn more! https://respondsystems.com/pemf/how-it-works/

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to deliver heat deep into the tissues and stimulate cell membranes to promote healing. It increases circulation and tissue extensibility (warms tissue up for stretching), decreases inflammation and muscle spasm, facilitates tissue healing, decreases scar tissue and relaxes muscles. It works well for treating muscle tears, sprains and strains, tendinopathies, bursitis, muscle contracture, tendon calcifications, capsular adhesions and reducing scar tissue.
